Chapter Strategic Plan
Washington Metropolitan Chapter Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
We are pleased to present this first strategic plan of the Washington DC Chapter of CFEs
(Chapter). The Chapter Board of Directors (Board) will use this plan as its roadmap for
the future and to focus the Board's efforts to arrive at the desired future state. The
planning process is continual and as significant changes occur in our organization or its
environment, requisite revisions will be made to this document. As the Board's
planning efforts become more sophisticated, additional components, such as
performance metrics, will be added.
In publishing this plan, the Board believes that it is demonstrative of good governance,
transparency, and critical for continued success. The Chapter is member-centric and,
with this in mind, our strategic goals were formulated. The goals are to: 1) Provide
value to our members; 2) Provide relevant and useful educational programs; and 3)
Increase effectiveness of networking programs.
The Board assigned the task of developing this plan to a task force consisting of one
current board member, one former Chapter president, and two external volunteers.
Those individuals are: Carl Hoecker, Jerry Rainwaters, Suzanne Wheeler, and Dwight
Perkins, respectively. We thank the task force members for many hours they dedicated
to arrive at this plan.

Mission: The chapter supports and promotes the professional development of its members primarily through training and networking programs.

Goals, Objectives and Performance Measures
The following are the key goals and objectives of the Chapter:
Goal 1: Provide value to our members.
Objective A: Regularly ask our members how we best can serve them.
Objective B: Expand influence of chapter in region.
Objective C: Design and implement governance structure.
1) Validate existing and identify additional leadership roles and organizational structure required for the Chapter.
Goal 2: Provide relevant and useful educational programs.
2) Develop leadership continuity plan and structure, including, e.g., identifying requirements for progressing from ad hoc volunteers to dedicated Board service.
Objective A: Provide training required for CFE continuing education credit.
1) Provide at least 20 hours of CFE continuing education credit which may include an additional full day, year-end training event consistent with the need and member interest.
Objective B: Evaluate alternate training formats and opportunities for innovation.
Goal 3: Increase effectiveness of networking programs.
Objective A: Foster professional working groups consistent with Chapter
Objective B: Develop regular program of mixers
Objective C: Foster a culture of mentorship and continuous improvement.
