Subject: IDEA Workshop – Beginner to Advanced Users

Dates: Thursday, December 4 and Friday, December 5, 2014

Time: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Training starts promptly at 8:30), breakfast and lunch will be served

ACFE-DC is proud to partner with the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors to offer two days of hands-on training for the IDEA software package.

Registration will be handled by IIA, DC-ACFE Chapter members, please select “ACFE member” during registration to receive the discounted member rate. Registrant has the option of taking one day (Day One or Day Two) or both days of the training.

 

Note: Participants must bring their own laptops and power cords with IDEA software installed prior to the class for hands-on experience. A link to the software download will be provided to all registrants prior to the class. Files used during the workshop will be provided to all participants on flash drives.

 

On Day One, instructors offer a hands-on workshop meant for true beginners wanting an introduction to IDEA's basic functionality and formal data analysis concepts. Participants will be taught how to import different file types into IDEA, how to search and summarize data, and how to join together multiple files into one larger file for analysis. The class will get to use instructor-provided files from a real fraud investigation to try out concepts and functions. The instructors will provide real-life tips and tricks on assessing the reliability of data, and documenting and presenting results.

 

On Day Two, instructors reinforces some of the concepts learned and takes participants through numerous sample analyses and teaches participants about IDEA's automation functions, including SmartAnalyzer. For students who also took Day One, this class provides an opportunity to practice their new skills, and pick up some more advanced tricks. The focus is on hands-on learning.

  • Individuals interested in networking with fellow data analysis users with their peers.

CPE Credits: This course offers an opportunity to earn eight (8) or sixteen (16) continuing professional education credits.

Member (ACFE/IIA – DC): $225/$450 register and pay by 12/1/14

 

Non-member: $275/$$550 register and pay by 12/1/14
